What is check in?

Check-in is a process by which passengers confirm their presence for a flight and receive their boarding passes, thereby allowing them to board the flight. Check-in typically begins a few hours before the flight departure time and closes around 30-60 minutes before the flight takes off. During check-in, passengers need to provide various details such as their name, ticket number, passport/ID details, flight number, etc. Depending on the airline and the mode of check-in, the process can be completed online, at a kiosk, or at the airport counter. Passengers also need to follow luggage guidelines and make sure their baggage is within the specified weight limit. Failure to check-in on time can result in a missed flight or additional charges.
